Technical Issues

First and foremost, the most important technical detail about the EIA is that it doesn’t
change the underlying data in your third party database.  That is, when you see a drop down
list showing you all the weapons available, typing in your own information won’t modify the
database.  This is an important safety precaution designed to maintain the integrity of your
third party software.

The EIA was designed using Visual Basic 6.0, with Service Pack 6.  At no point will the
DataSource properties of data-aware controls be pointed to a third party database.  The
characters and SRD data that we created are stored in an Access database, and those tables
are modified by DataSource properties. Although the database was designed in the Access
2002 environment, it’s in Access 2000 format.

Note: The EIA is 100% Vista compatible.  Not only are Visual Basic 6.0 applications
compatible with Vista, but also the development environment is compatible with Vista.  This
is in stark (and unfortunate) contrast to other older development environments such as C++
or even the relatively recent Visual Studio 2003.  As the guys from South Park say, "Dum dum
dum dum dum."  If the applications you're currently using were written in any of these older
programming environments, they'll have problems in Vista, and maybe even fail altogether.

In order to avoid piracy, registering the product involves sending an email, generated by the
application, that identifies the specific hard drive on which you’re installing the software.
The registration code you receive, therefore, will be based on that computer.  The
unfortunate consequence of that process is that if you change hard drives, you’ll need to
purchase another license in order to install the program on the new computer.  Accordingly,
we offer multiple copy licenses that benefit both bulk purchases and repeat customers.

System Requirements

The application interface was built with MS Visual Basic 6.0, Service Pack 6.  The database
was created MS Access 2002 but in Access 2000 format.  You may contact me at
wetpaint2000@hotmail.com if you have any trouble with installation or operation of the
application.
