E-Initiative is here!
Welcome to the E-Initiative website. Use the links at the top to navigate through the site.
The primer is an overview of what E-Initiative is and isn’t, which is to say what features it
contains. The tutorial, which uses both words and screen shots to show you how to use E-
Initiative. As I receive questions and comments on E-Initiative, I’ll compile a FAQ. You’ll also
note that my contact information is included with the E-Initiative application and this
document.
Please note, although E-Initiative was written to interface with another program written by
another company and maintained by yet another company (with neither of whom we have
an affiliation), those of you that don’t have access to that program can still use E-Initiative.
Also note that this program is designed with the d20 game system in mind, but some
features may not be applicable to the particular games you play. This will change in time if
necessary, as there will be constant reevaluation of the application as we go forward. In
fact, there are several times throughout this document that you’ll see something like, “It
can’t do this (currently).” This is obviously an indicator of a future enhancement. If you have
any comments about these proposed enhancements, please let me know.
As an aside, if the windows look a little strange to you, it’s because the screen shots were
generated on a Windows Vista machine. The user interface has changed somewhat, and for
what it’s worth, this is an opportunity for you to see some of those changes. In case you’re
worried, E-Initiative will still run on Windows XP and 2000, which is good, because I strongly
discourage people from "upgrading" to Vista. It's horrible.
By the way, you may not have seen the abbreviation, "q.v.," before. Just in case, I’ll define it
here. It’s an abbreviation for the Latin phrase, quod vide (“which see”) and will appear in
parentheses. As you’re reading through this document, you may encounter a concept that
has you scratching your head. If you see (q.v.), this means you haven’t missed anything. I
haven’t yet discussed the concept, so it’ll make sense in due time when its details become
important. Until then, just worry about the current topic of discussion.
With Thanks,
